The Insurance window gives you access to all insurance related information for the insured party. You can update any of the information that appears on this window.
The Insurance window is divided into three main sections:
Policy Information
Insured Information and
Insured's Employer Information
The following table contains definitions for the Policy Information fields on the patient Insurance window.
Field Name |
Definition |
Insurance Code |
This is the identifying code for the payer associated with the order insurance. Type the code of the payer you want to use or click the search icon to search for an insurance. For more information see To Search for a Payer. |
Payer Name |
This is the name of the payer associated with the order insurance. This field cannot be changed as it is based on the payer associated with the insurance code. |
Member/Policy Number |
This is the member or policy number for the insurance. A value must be entered in either the Member/Policy Number field, the Primary Group Number field, or the Plan Identifier field. |
Primary Group Number |
This is the group number of the policy for the order insurance. A value must be entered in either the Member/Policy Number field, the Primary Group Number field, or the Plan Identifier field. |
Plan Identifier |
This is an identifier for the plan for the order insurance. A value must be entered in either the Member/Policy Number field, the Primary Group Number field, or the Plan Identifier field. |
Group Name |
This is an identifying name for the group policy associated with the order insurance. |
Effective Date |
This is the effective date of the policy for the insurance. The date must be in MM/DD/YYYY format (e.g., 07/15/2002). |
Expiration Date |
This is the expiration date of the policy for the insurance. The date must be in MM/DD/YYYY format (e.g., 07/15/2002). |
The Insured Information and Insured's Employer Information fields are self-explanatory. If you select "Self" on Patient relationship to Insured, all the patient demographic information on the previous screen is copied to these section.
The following commands are available through the buttons on the top right portion of the screen:
If you change any insurance information, click Save to save your changes.
To print the insurance information that appears on the screen click Print.
To delete the insurance information that appears on the screen click Delete.
To return to the main Patient Chart window without saving any changes click Cancel.
