New Order - Continued

Five basic sets of information are collected when creating an order:

Patient/Guarantor information

Billing and Insurance Information

Order information, including performing lab and ordering client

Test/Diagnosis information

Additional information, such as lab instructions and procedure-specific information

Order Type

Clinician supports three order types: Standard, PSC and Recurring orders. The ability to support one or more order types is site configurable.

The following table describes each order type.

Order Type	Description
Standard	A lab order for a test performed at the doctor’s office.
PSC	A lab order given to a patient by a doctor to have a test performed at a Patient Service Center.
Recurring	An order for repeated tests where specimens are collected during a patient's hospital stay or over a specified period of time.

If the Order Type is set to "Recurring" users must specify Start/End Date and Frequency in the Recurring Order Details page.

Bill Type

The selected Bill Type determines the type of billing and order information that must be collected:

Client Bill Type - Means the client (provider or physician) ordering the tests pays for them.

Patient Bill Type - Means the patient pays for the tests. In this case, Guarantor information is required.

Third-Party Bill Type - Means the patient's insurance pays for the tests. In this case, Insurance information is required.
